of the Industry 2005*
According to Lawn & Landscape Magazine's 2005 State of the Industry Report, the following information was gathered as it pertains to the industry.
- When looking to the economy and its influence on the landscape industry, the fact that real gross domestic product growth has remained at more than 3 percent for nine consecutive quarters is a sign that small business economic conditions remain strong and steady.
- Lawn care revenues are up over last year in terms of revenue growth, 15.6 percent versus 8.9 percent the previous year.
- The charge per 1,000 feet of lawn care increased from $16.80 in 2004 to $18.80 in 2005. This is an increase of 11.9 percent.
- The average number of employees range from 6.1 to 11.7.
- The average number of residential acres service per customer is 0.81 acres.
- The average number of commercial acres serviced per customer is 2.80 acres.
- The average expenditure per company for the main lawn care products increased 31 percent.
